Moving and specially packing are the least favorite things to do. But good packing is essential for stress-free moving. It will also help you in many ways while settling down at your new house. 1.     Pre-packing:

Ø  Gather all the necessary packing supplies you’ll need. For example, sturdy cartoon boxes, containers, wrapping materials like newspapers, marker pens, stickers, packing tape, etc.

Ø  Keep valuables, medications, important documents, license, etc. with you.

Ø  Decide/know in advance which equipments and things come with you. Make a list of all the important things. Check if you need to return certain materials like cable wires, etc.

Ø  Label the stickers using marker pens. It is advisable to use multi-colored stickers for different rooms, so that you won’t get confused while unpacking it.

Ø  Try to limit the cartoon weight to make handling easier.

2.     Packing:

Ø  Keep the labeled boxes in the respective rooms and start with the things you don’t use often.

Ø  Try putting heavier items at the bottom and lighter at the top. Avoid leaving empty spaces.

Ø  Be sure to draw an arrow if you need to put any item in the upright position.

Ø  Be careful while packing the fragile items. Put paper packing/newspaper around each one and then wrap 4-5 bundles together with more papers.

Ø  Put the breakable items in separate boxes and label them carefully.

Ø  Use leak proof containers to put medications.

Ø  Put the stuffs you need to return or leave behind in separate boxes.

3.     Unpacking:  

Ø  Before unpacking and setting things up in your new house, make sure that you have cleaned it from every corner.

Ø  Get the major furniture and big items set up first in the way you want them.

Ø  Start unpacking the boxes for separate rooms. It’s better to start with room which have more number of boxes.

Ø  Make sure that you have unpacked each box before moving on to other rooms.
